I was out doing a few of Baytown Bert's evil caches today --
dodging traffic, climbing trees, fighting off attack bumble bees --
you know, the usual -- when I decided to check out a few more of
his dastardly hides in West Chambers County. The caches in question
are just off of Needlepoint Rd, south of I-10. I punched one of the
caches up in my Nuvi, and she (they're all "she", right?) directed
me to head N. on Hwy 146, then turn right on Old Needlepoint Rd. In
hindsight, I guess I should have given more credance to the "No
Outlet" sign I passed as I headed east, but I did not. I mean, the
GPS showed that the road connected all the way through, and
Garmin is never wrong, are they?
Well, it turns out the Nuvi WAS wrong and I drove all the way to
the dead end of Old Needlepoint Rd, only to find that the road did
indeed have no outlet and I could not get there from here. At this
point, I figured this was just another of Baytown Bert's incidious
plots to keep me confused, delay my caching schedule, and cause me
to burn unnecessary gasoline. Sure, I could blame myself, blame the
Nuvi, or blame the Garmin mapmakers... but it's just easier this
way. Trust me.
Anyhoo, I decided not to let the trip be completely in vain, so
I stopped nearby and hid a geocache in BB's "honor". Yeah, that's
what it is... an honor.

bring your own writing utensil.
