Chochlakies Gorge
The Chochlakies gorges can be founded at the extreme East of the
island, and are extended from the Village of Chochlakies to the
magnificient bay of Karoumès, in the south of Palekastro. Gorges go
through cliffs... And in the end, the reward: The one, the unique,
THE magnificient beach of Karoumès. An intimate and restful place.
The walk through the gorges wich is leading to the bed of the river
takes approximatively 1 hour on the way out. In spring, you'll have
to be ready to climb some rocks and to pass by big puddles.
The route is arrowed in red since the parking, which is in the
Chochlakies Village (where are started the gorges). It begins with
the crossing of an olive tree culture (oliverai) and continues
after having crossed a fenced portal which give a free access to
the Gorges.
Plan good shoes.
The cache:
Is on the extreme left of Karoumès beach. It appears as a box with
the geocatching logo and contains: A red crystal cork, pearls, a
champagne capsule bottle, a bean, an engraved round stone and the
log book with a pencil. The box is protected by two waterproof
plastic bags and closed by a thread.
Small note on cache maintenance: Omilos has
offered to help if needed. Thank you!
