This spot is not a very common sight in Crete. It’s the delta of Almiros river, a small protected wetland – water habitat for ducks, geese and other kinds of birds and water organisms. In the area there are tall eucalyptus and palm trees and reeds.
Many decades ago the women from the area used to come and wash their clothes in the clean waters of the river.
The river flows into the sea a bit further forming a sallow sandy beach with clear, cool water. It’s well-organised, usually calm and so suitable for young children.
The cache is a small plastic container with a logbook and a small pencil, but you'd better bring your own pen.
If you drive towards Agios Nikolaos, you can park almost ten meters away from the cache, just on the turning of the road. If you drive towards Ierapetra, then suggested parking place is N35 10.445 E025 42.352.
Please mind that no muggles are watching you and hide it back well!
