Geocache Description:

Izu Ōshima is the largest island in Izu Islands.
This island is about 120 kilometers away from the downtown, Tōkyō.
Because there are many fishing places, diving spots and beach resorts around the island, the summer season is full of tourists.
Izu Ōshima's specialty products are camellia oil, common salt, Angelica keiskei and Kusaya which is a kind of the dried fish.
If you like dried fish, you should not buy Kusaya without smelling it.
Izu Ōshima has a warm climate throughout the year, and has rich nature and wonderful panoramic views.
You can relax in an onsen, hot spring, after your travelling.

If you go via Ōshima ring road, you will be surprised at the view, on about a quarter mile this side of the posted coordinates.
There is stratum which looks like the cross section of a Baumkuchen cake along the ring road.
It is an artificial outcrop caused by the cutting in the ring road construction.
Such an outcrop was usually covered up by a retaining wall, but in this case the wall was not made because it looked very delicious.
The stratum is made by sedimentation of the scoria and the volcanic ash mainly.

The blackish layers are scoria, and the brown layers are volcanic ash which has been weathered by the air.
It takes one million five hundred thousand years to reach current height.
The stratum did not undulate by fold but was formed on an undulating ground.
