Music Examination: Time Limit 50 minutes 33 seconds
At school I was never much of a student of music. Sure, I listened to plenty, but somehow I could never get the hang of playing or singing. Maybe they were trying to teach me the wrong way, maybe I was just tone deaf. I was on the fast track to failure with my music GCSE. Heaven alone knows why I chose to study music in the first place.
But one day our regular teacher was taken ill and I was taught for a couple of months by a relief teacher, who changed me completely.
He looked a most unlikely source of inspiration. He was a tall, thin, gaunt and rather introverted American with long black hair. He wore a crows foot around his neck for good luck. He said he was from the North, but his accent was definitely Southern. He gave us something our previous teacher never could. He taught me to learn about myself, to feel the music, and to use music to express my emotion. He taught me how to bring harmony.
Sometimes salvation comes from the most unlikely of sources, and now to lessen my troubles I’ve stopped hanging out with vultures and empty saviours. I have found my remedy. Would you let me show you what I mean ?
Before he came I had thorn in my pride. I was a failure. I thought of giving up. It’s hard to make up your mind sometimes.
But sometimes salvation sneaks up and I am a changed woman. No time for accusations or conversations on all the bad, bad things. Yes, now I have my remedy. Will you let it slide ? My remedy, enough to please me.
Two months passed too quickly and the awful day came when my musical inspiration was to return to the west. He would no longer be my companion.
He left me a note which read simply “Bad luck, Blue Eyes, goodbye !” He was gone, and with him went my only chance of success, or so I thought. Sometimes a memory only sees what it wants to believe. I suffered a hotel illness, but this week’s fashion is last year’s flavour.
My past came back to sting me briefly and I was filled with rage. But if you feel like a riot then don’t you deny it, put your good foot forward. And this proved to be my remedy. Did I see you laugh about that ? Well I will tell you one more thing. No more black moon creeping. My three wishes were granted to me.
I will always remember that relief teacher. You may have met him yourself, but if not then please seek him out and discover his work. If you do then you will pass the test and you will find the secret.
The final cache is a 450ml clip lock box covered in black duck tape. It contains a small log book and pencil/pen. Please, as ever, take care to replace the cache as you found it.

Warning: The container is placed in a very spiky piece of vegetation. Do not attempt to retrieve it without spike-proof gloves and sleeves.
