Punkie is my dog. She's a toy fox terrier and 14 years old. She doesn't quite hear or walk as well as she once did, but she's still about as loyal a friend you will find. This cache is dedicated to her. The cache itself is a small lock n lock container with some kids' toys in it.
The cache is located a little bit off the white trail. Just stay on the white trail until you come to a little clearing in the forest. From there, you will bushwhack towards the cache site. The cache should be fairly easy to find. If you're having trouble, the clue should prove to be helpful.
Be warned, it's a little steep in some parts getting to ground zero. If you keep walking a little further down the trail once you've reached the clearing, you will be able to find an area that isn't very steep that still leads to the cache.
Once you have found and rehidden the cache, I'd recommend going back on the trail and simply finishing the hike. You're almost done at this point. Trust me.
You will end up back down on the paved path that runs along side the road. From there, you can follow the paved path back to the parking. There's also another cache close by that you can find if you haven't yet done so. (Cross County Trail GC1KRP0)
Buddhists believe that on the day that the Buddha died, he summoned all animals to his side. Only members of 12 species -- dogs among them -- reached him before his death. He rewarded those who came with a year of their own, which is why the cat has no sign in the Chinese zodiac.
I hope you and perhaps a four legged friend have a good time finding this cache. Good luck!
Congratulations to Chase Clan 2.3 for FTF!
UPDATE
Lil Punkie passed away peacefully on December 26, 2010 at her home Frog Pond in Woodbridge, Virginia. She is survived by her step sisters Polly and Peppy. Lil Punkie was truly a one of a kind. I doubt I will ever again have such a faithful and loyal friend. I've added a couple pictures of Punkie, a brief bio and some poems to her cache. It is my hope that Punkie's cache will help keep her memory alive. I miss you, Punkie.
