Yokohama is one of the origin of jazz (anouther origin is Kobe), because many foreigners come and go since 1870, and people in Yokohama is very sensible to new culture.
Today still there're many live houses, coffee house/bar in which we can enjoy live performance and record of jazz. At the shown coords above there had been a famous jazz coffee house "Chigusa," closed 2007 with its 73 years history, in which many famous Japanese jazz musicians studied jazz when they're young.
In autumn professionals and amateurs gather and hold "Yokohama Jazz Promnade." We can enjoy performance of many bands in these houses (paid, through-the-term ticket is available), even at public places and on the road (free). How about enjoy jazz on these festival days? Don't forget some of the live houses provide nice jazz performance almost every night.

横浜には現在でも多数のジャズのライブハウス、喫茶やバーがあり、生演奏やレコードを楽しむことができます。表記の座標には伝説のジャズ喫茶『ちぐさ』が、2007年に73年の歴史を閉じるまでありました。そこでは多数のジャズミュージシャンがジャズを学んだといいます。
秋にはプロ・アマチュアのジャズミュージシャンが集って『横浜ジャズプロムナード』が開かれます。横浜のライブハウス(有料、通し券あり)や路上(無料)で多数のバンドが演奏しますので楽しんでみてはいかがでしょう。もちろん、これ以外の期間も毎晩のように、多くのライブハウスでジャズの生演奏を聴くことができます。
