Geocache Description:

A cache placed near to Lye Railway Station. Not on railway property.

History
Lye station was opened by the Stourbridge Railway in 1863, on their Stourbridge Junction to Old Hill line. The line was later taken over by Great Western Railway.
Lye has the joint shortest name in the United Kingdom, along with: Ayr rail station serving the town of Ayr in South Ayrshire; IBM on the Inverclyde Line, both in Scotland; the rest are in England: Lee, South London; Rye, Sussex; Ore railway station, serving Ore in East Sussex; Ash rail station, Surrey; Ely rail station, Cambridgeshire; Par rail station, Cornwall; Wem rail station, Shropshire; Wye rail station, Kent.
Lye was formerly a village in the parish of Oldswinford, Worcestershire.
Services
Managed by London Midland, Lye has frequent local services, with limited stop trains not stopping at the station.
