Geocache Description:

Bilbo hid his treasure he took from Smaug....can you find it?

In this cache you will need to find Frodo's friend's Merry and Pippin. They will help lead you to Bilbo's treasure.

Find Merry first and he will tell you where Pippin is resting.

Pippin will be more than happy to tell you where the treasure is....but you need to find him first.

To get to these caches, you will need to be a an expert at the Hobbit trivia, or bring a copy of the book with you....or be able to view Google through your own palantir. PLEASE LEAVE THE CLUE SHEETS IN EACH CACHE (you will probably need to bring some paper and a pen to write down the clues).

The first cache is not at these coordinates, but nearby. To get there go here:

37. 41. A B C
122. 27. D A E

A= The number of years Belladonna Tuck dies after her husband died minus one.
B=Bilbo asked a riddle that had the answer "teeth" - what number was this riddle in his series of riddles - then add the value of A above?
C= The address of the Gamgees at Bagshot Row plus one.
D=The number of times "eye(s)" is mentioned in the riddle that had "sun" and "daisies" in the answer.
E= The sum for B above minus the value of A above.

(If you don't want to or can't figure out the location for Merry's cache, it is in the Hint/Spoiler below. But you are on your own for the next two

SUM CHECKS (last 3 digits of coords):
Merry N: 19 W: 13
Pippin: N: 14 W: 13
Bilbo's Treasure: N: 12 W: 14

Find both Merry and Pippin and then find Bilbo. If you do this, Bilbo will offer to share his treasure with you. If you look around at the first two caches, you might spot Merry at one and Pippin at the other. THEY ARE NOT THE CACHES - so no need to move them or even touch them. They are there to guard the caches and to help you on your quest.

I took no less than 3 measurements at each location with the Garmin. I tried to confirm with Google Earth but, as you will see, on site tree cover made that almost useless. The caches are located at trees (base, trunk, roots, etc.). Feel free to write us with any questions, coord guesses, etc.

In the each cache location, please be very aware of muggles strolling near the cache. Hobbits are very quiet while the Big People are loud and very nosy and they can sneak up on you. Pippin's cache is the most visible, but of course it is Bilbo's treasure that must be guarded with all stealth.

Final cache has a One Ring to rule them all for the FTF, STF and TTF....(yes, we know...three people each get the One Ring. But you are looking for hobbits so don't question our reasoning). I tried to clear all briars away and do not believe there is poison oak near, but please be careful in case I missed any.

There is also a Lord of the Rings geocoin and an Alphonse travel bug......................and tons of gold, gems, jewels, and other treasure.

Please be careful with the caches and please re-hide carefully.
