One of a short series of classical caches.
The cache is not at the above location.
This cache is loosely associated with Dere Street a Roman road that ran from York to Crammond and on to the Antonine Wall. It is the original Great North road and by extension the original A1.
The road through Edgehead is the most northerly and identifiable section of Dere Street.
There is a local cacher called Original A1 of whom I was thinking when I devised this cache. However she is more 'Helen of Troy' than 'Great North Road'.
