This is a five stage multi-cache that will take you to some of the smaller temples in the Masan City area. There is a lot of travel between caches. The complete route is about 17 km. You will have to hike up a mountain to get to the final cache. Be prepared: bring food & water.
None of the caches are on the temple grounds.
All caches are all a short distance from the temples.
You don't have to visit the temples, but you do have to get close enough to know the names of the temples.
You have to know the names of the temples near each cache to solve the puzzle.
The puzzle will give you the coordinates to the next cache.
The puzzle can be done by both Korean and foreign participants.
Those not familiar with Korean writing may want to take pictures of the temple names to reference when solving the code.
Bring a pen or pencil and some paper to use for the puzzle.
Stage 1 Notes:
A small temple with a big bell. Enjoy the stream running past the temple. If you haven't eaten, have a meal at the nearby restaurant. Take some time to enjoy the old trees in this area.
Stage 2 Notes:
Enjoy the paintings at this temple. They are well maintained and have very vivid colors.
Stage 3 Notes:
A short but steep climb: Be sure to use the stairs! You'll see a lot of pagodas near the temple. The entrance garden is very nice. The temple has a good view. Enjoy the Buddha statue and the small water garden.
Stage 4 Notes:
Be sure you have food & water and appropriate clothing before you head up the trail! Enjoy the bell tower and the view. Have a picnic on a rock by the stream.
Final Location Notes:
Don't miss the Buddha carvings here. Enjoy the view. The pagoda and the bell tower are very scenic. Enjoy the bamboo forest near the cache.
