Light at Fenioux Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

csuffolk: Although this cache is in one of the most beautiful and peaceful sites, there seems to be very little interest in it, to judge by the low number of recent visitors. Its second hiding place has not been successful, so I've decided to archive it.

Geocache Description:

A beautiful rural spot (between St Jean d’ Angely and Saintes) . The church is a fine example of the Romanesque period in the Saintonge style. Close by it is one of the best Lanternes des Morts in France. A torch could be useful. Access to the actual cache is now impossible for a wheelchair user, but most of the site is perfectly accessible.

The coordinates are those of the car park which is beyond the church and the Mairie, and please note that you will have passed a shady picnic site 300 metres earlier. The car park has information panels that will help you. There is now also a picnic area near the lantern itself. To extend your visit after cache-hunting you might continue for a few hundred metres downhill along the St Jacques de Compostelle route to find the “fontaine” with its stone topping. B : the number of columns around the light (FR. Le nombre des colonnettes autour de la lanterne) C: the number of columns of the main pillar (FR. Le nombre des colonnes autour du grand pilier) D: the total number of steps from the doorway right up to the top (FR. Le nombre de toutes les marches de la porte jusqu’au la plus haute) Final coordinates : N. 45 53.3(D-3) W. 000 35 8(B-C)8 Note : no multiplication here ! Contents : log, pencil.
