How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

Reaching the rank of Eagle Scout, in the Boy Scouts of America, requires years of dedication and hard work. In addition to 21 required merit badges, one of a boy's last steps to Eagle is to plan, develop, and give leadership to others in a service project helpful to his religious institution, school, or community. On the average, each Scout conducts 167 service hours as part of that project. The Eagle Scout candidate must accept responsibility for planning, directing, and following through to its successful completion.

This cache is part of a nationwide geocaching series called "Cache to Eagle" that showcases these special Eagle projects. Presented in this cache is the Eagle Project from a Scout in Troop 930 from the Twin Arrows District of the Indian Nations Council.

Nathaniel built and placed owl nesting boxes throughout this park. 146 hours were spent on planning, building and placing these magnificent homes. Please look up in the trees to find these great homes for the owls. Don't forget to visit the Nature Center while you are here.

For 100 years, the Boy Scouts of America has helped youth become more than they ever thought possible. And we’ll continue that journey into the next century. The Boy Scout program in the US began in 1910 and currently is open to boys ages 11-18. Boys learn and grow through the experiences of camping, hiking, building projects, and community service. Scouting fosters self-esteem, a sense of value and belonging, a sense of accountability, and teamwork. It’s also a lot of fun! The skills learned in Scouting help young men overcome obstacles and challenges with courage and character throughout their lives. Geocaching offers a new opportunity for the Boy Scouts to experience the outdoors while honing their Scouting skills. This cache is placed in honor of Eagle Scouts and to highlight their Eagle projects and community service.

Congratulations to M5 on the FTF.
