Geocache Description:

A temporary air field was established to support the Normandy Landings in early 1944 on farmland straddling Bones Lane. It was constructed in three months and used for just seven weeks from May to June 1944. Thereafter it served as an anti-V-1 rocket balloon site for a month and was returned to Farmland in 1945.

The cache is not situated at the published coordinates. The cache can be found but working the answers from the questions below by finding the information on the memorial plaque:

N 51. 10. ABC
W 000. 0D. EFG

A = Add the individual numbers of the 'Wing', minus 6
B = The number of squadrons stationed at RAF Horne
C = Third number in the year the plaque was erected.
D = Month Spitfires arrived at RAF Horne. (Jan = 1 and Dec = 12)
E = Fourth number in the year the plaque was erected, plus 3.
F = Add the individual numbers of the 'Punjab' squadron, minus 4.
G = Number of pilot nationalities stationed at RAF Horne

This is a nice easy offset multi-cache. There is a pull in area to park one to two cars only opposite the plaque. Please park sensibly and be careful when crossing the road as motorists use Bones lane as a rat run.

The cache contains a logbook, a pencil (but bring a pen/pencil just in case) and a few swapables.

If you haven't already done so, please also go and visit the nearby hamlet of Horne and look for: Church Micro 18...Horne by Sadexploration.
