Geocache Description:

This micro cache is another in the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. They are a distraction for the weary public transport traveller.

Sandwich station opened on 1st July 1847 following an extension of the line from Minster.

The station lost its last dedicated stationmaster (Mr Newton) in the mid 1960s. There was formerly quite an extensive goods yard adjoining the station but by the 1960s this had become disused and is now completely built over by a small housing estate.

The cache has been upgraded (again) this time to a magnetic key lock box. The last cache container fell over into the undergrowth and although it can be seen, it can't be rescued. Please ensure the cache is replaced carefully and ensure it is replaced in its bag as the container isn't waterproof. Please BYOP.

The cache is located outside of the main station. You can access it by leaving the station by the pedestrian walkway on platform 2 or via the main road. Stealth will be required. If accessing it from the main road, there is a 'Private Road, No Access' sign. This applies to the road to the right, not the public pathway to the left. On street parking is best although you can park at the station and cross through the station. Happy Caching.

Well done to MeersRescue for a very fitting First To Find.
