Jediny viditelny pozustatek opevneni Stare Boleslavi z roku 1351 predstavuje hranolova branska vez na jiznim okraji namesti. Zdivo pochazi z poloviny 14. stoleti, kdy nechal Karel IV. obnovit hradby, ktere kdysi stavel Boleslav I. Behem 16. stoleti opevneni zchatralo, takze pro svedske vojsko roku 1639 nepredstavovalo zadnou prekazku. Po tricetilete valce byla brana obnovena. Prujezd brany pripomina goticke stavitelstvi, brana je vsak zaklenuta jiz barokni klenbou. I nejvyssi 3. patro je vysledkem pozdejsi prestavby. Jeste ve 30. letech 20. stoleti vedla branou silnice a brana byla architektonicky spojena s budovou hostince ,,Modra hvezda“.
Prujezdnost branou byla velmi spatna, proto byl hostinec zboren a silnice se premistila mimo prujezd. Brana od te doby slouzila jako sypka. Od roku 1965 Staroboleslavskou branu spravuje muzeum.

Brandys - St. Boleslav #8 ( Gate )
The only visible remnant of the walled Stara Boleslav of 1351 represents a prismatic tower on the southern edge of the square. Masonry comes from the mid-14th century, when Karel IV. restore the walls, which once built Boleslav I. During the 16th century fortification shabby, so the Swedish army in 1639 did not constitute an obstacle. After the Thirty Years War was gate restored. Gate passage reminds Gothic architecture, however, arched gateway is already Baroque dome. The highest third floor is the result had to be rebuilt. Still in the 30 years of 20th century road hrough to the gate and the gate was attached to a building architecturally pub “ Modra Hvezda ". Drive trought the gate was very bad and building with pub was demolished and the road moved out of the gate. Gate since then served as a granary. Since 1965 is Gate managed by the museum.
Gate : bollard inside the gate has a number AB, and C =A+B .
