The Inspiration
Sometimes, a topo map paints a picture of a place in the world that begs to be experienced (and a place that is begging for a cache, as well). This was the case with the Bowknot Bend area for me. After months of casual map study, the lure became too great and a rough plan was set into motion.

The Implementation
Once any such adventure is underway, new facts and situations present themselves that no amount of topo and internet study can predict. This causes last-minute adjustments and plan revisions, and often derails a trip entirely. For this trip, though, everything came together, and I was able to handle all of the obstacles and the unexpected circumstances that were encountered.

The Unpleasant
Perhaps the most unexpected (and unpleasant) experience I endured was the insane voracity of the mosquitos along the banks of the river in August. Direct sunlight and rain were the only remedies. Long sleeves and pants are indispensable attire. Much to the delight of the local mosquito population, though, I had brought neither.

Geocaching in it’s Purest Form
When the cache was placed and I was back on pavement headed toward home, I had a strong sense of pride for accomplishing what I’d set out to do. At no point, until the trip was over, was success guaranteed, and I expect that without that fact, the success would have been far less sweet.
You have the coordinates to a spot on the Earth and a few details from this cache page. The rest is up to you. In order to maintain the level of mystery and challenge experienced while preparing for and placing the cache, seekers are provided no locational information regarding access or route. Determining these things is the very essence of a cache challenge like this. Please respect this theme when posting logs to the cache page.

Reaching this cache will require rock climbing.
I used rope to rappel twice during my trip.
Your route choices and climbing abilities will vary,
so study the maps and be well-prepared.
Good luck and safe travels!
