Bei den ursprünglichen Koordinaten N 46° 56.760 E 7° 26.412 hat man einen schönen Blick auf das UPU Denkmal. Der Cache befindet sich seit dem 14. November 2016 an den neuen Listing Koordinaten. Bitte keine verräterischen Logs. - To have a great view on the UPU monument go to the Coordonates N 46° 56.760 E 7° 26.412. Please don't post spoiler logs.


Der Weltpostverein (franz. Union Postale Universelle kurz UPU) ist eine Sonderorganisation der UNO. Sie wurde 1874 gegründet und regelt bis heute die internationale Zusammenarbeit der Postorganisationen und die Rahmenbedingungen des grenzüberschreitenden Postverkehrs. Das Weltpost-Denkmal erinnert daran, dass Bern Gründungsstadt und Sitz des Weltpostvereins ist (siehe auch GC2QBP8). Es wurde am 4. Oktober 1909 eingeweiht. Fünf Figuren (Kontinente) umspannen den Globus und reichen sich Briefe weiter als Symbol für den weltweiten Postverkehr. Daneben sitzt mit Berner Wappen die Berna, eine Personifikation der Stadt Bern in Frauengestalt.

The United Postal Union (UPU) is a specialised agency of the United Nations. It was founded in 1874 and organizes until today the international collaboration of the postal administrations as well as the conditions for the crossboarder mail and parcel traffic. The UPU monument commemorates the founding of the organisation in Berne. It was unveiled on October, 4th 1909. Five figures representing the 5 continents encircle the globe and hand letters to one other, symbolizing international communication by Post. The city of Berne is personified as a majestic noblewoman holding the city’s coat of arms in the hand.
