Jock, or someone like enough to fool the eagle eyed gamekeeper
Duncan Grant, was spotted going up the gorge. He had a heavy
knapsack on his back, but was moving slowly, painfully.
"Yon was not a happy wanderer, " said Duncan over a pint pulled for
him by the anxious Mairi at the Struan Inn.
"But you're sure it was him, not Erchie . . . or some birdwatcher?"
she asked.
"Weel, aboot as sure as I ken a hawk frae a budgie.But if he'd been
shot, wounded, why escape that way? It's no an easy climb, even
when the water is low. There's an easier track oot tae

"Do you think he had mair of that grafsilvr he wanted to
stash?"
