The cache is not located at the posted co-ordinates. There is
nothing relevant to this cache at the posted co-ords, but
they may be of some use to you, if your clever enough to figure it
out!
History nerd that I am, I've looked at many pictures of Ottawa
through the ages. This cache will bring to your attention something
that has always fascinated me - the statue that wandered
away!
Though the calculations for this cache can be
done on your GPS, I advise you to use a third party programme. The
reason for this is that most GPSrs are not able to project along
degrees with decimal places. Your final co-ords will be more
accurate this way.
Your adventure begins by studying the picture below.
Where is this statue? Once you have found this statue, waypoint the
lamppost at the nearby corner, and edit your co-ords to N45 xx.xx0
W075 xx.xx8. Call this WP1
This is not the first building in our fair city to have our friend
'Edsel' standing atop it! Now you must figure out where this statue
was.
Once you have found the former location of this statue, waypoint
the electrical box that is near the corner and adjust the co-ords
to N45 xx.xx4 W075 xx.xx6. Call this waypoint 2
Draw a line between waypoints 1 & 2. Call this line A.
You do not need to go to waypoint three, however you will need it
to calculate the final. Waypoint 3 is located 8252 yards away from
the midpoint of line A, along a bearing line perpendicular to line
A.
The cache is located 1732 yards away from waypoint 3 along a
bearing that is parallel to line A.
Due to the high difficulty of this cache, please
do not include spoilers in your logs. This rule includes
pictures!
There is a first to find prize for this cache,
however it is not in the cache. The FTF prize is a personalised
stamp that I will carve for you after the fact.
