Schleswig-Holstein stellt geographisch den südlichen Abschluss der Halbinsel Jütland und den nördlichen Teil der Norddeutschen Tiefebene dar und ist eingeschlossen zwischen der Nordsee im Westen, der Ostsee im Osten.
Aber wir ist dieses Land zwischen Nordsee und Ostsee entstanden ?
Schleswig-Holstein entstand in der Eiszeit.
Die wandernden Gletscher schoben alles, was auf dem Felsboden lag, vor sich her:
Sand, Kies, Lehm, Ton, Steine
Auch im Eis eingeschlossen waren riesige Erdmassen und Gesteinsmassen.

Als die Gletscher vor ca. 20 000 Jahren zu schmelzen begannen, blieb der ganze Gesteinsschutt liegen und bildete die Oberfläche des östlichen Hügellandes.
Sehen kann man diese Endmoräne noch gut wenn man an den KOs Richtung Westen bzw. Nordwesten guckt.
In den Senken sammelte sich das Wasser. Es entstanden Seen und Moore.

Das östliche Hügelland heute: Zahlreiche Seen, von Buchenwäldern umkränzt, sowie von bunten Knicks umrahmte Felder und Wiesen geben der Landschaft von Schleswig-Holstein ihr Gesicht.

Vor Ort seht Ihr zahlreiche Steine die die Gletscher aus Norwegen, Schweden und Finnland mitgebracht haben.
Die Infotafeln zeigen genau, wo die Steine her kommen.
Für Schulkinder gut erklärt ist die Geschichte eines Findlings auf dem Weg von Schweden nach Malente...

"Ich bin ein Findling und uralt. Meine Heimat ist....Im Norden schneite es immer mehr und der Schnee wurde zu Eis. Die Eisdecke wurde dicker und immer dicker. Schließlich lagen 2000 m Eis über mir....Meine schönen Ecken und Kanten, auf die ich so stolz war, wurden alle abgerieben...."
Echt toll geschrieben - lest sie mit euren Kindern vor Ort - oder lasst sie euch von euren Kindern vor Ort vorlesen ;-)
Um den Earthcache zu loggen beantwortet folgende Fragen per Mail:

2.5 messe seine Höhe
Mache ein Foto mit dir und/oder deinem GPS am größten Findling und lade es mit dem Log hoch (nach den neuen Richtlinien keine Logvorgabe mehr)
Schicke eine Nachricht mit den Antworten und deinem CacherNamen über den Messager oder über unser Profil.
