Geocache Description:

A underwater cached placed in Osprey Cove on the Pactola Reservoir. Its located approx. 45 feet underwater so scuba gear will be required to get it!

** This cache requires Scuba Gear, and the Training **

This cache is located in Pactola Reservoir in a cove called Osprey cove. Named for the Osprey that nest along the Reservoir. The cove is a no wake area however boats can still enter the cove. Most of the time boats enter to anchor to either fish or swim. I would suggest diving during the week and avoid the weekend as I have seen as many as seven boats on hot weekends. Boats in the area do respect the dive flag and I have not had any encounters with boats diving here. Please remember to use a dive marker and follow all other safety guild lines while scuba diving.

Under the water the cache is located among a small rocky outcropping approx 45 feet under. The cache is a blue 500ml steel water bottle. Inside there is a small match container, with log only. The cache does float quite well and is attached to a rock by a clasp. Please bring you own pen and open it above the water! I would suggest tying off your dive marker on the rocks so you can find the spot once the cache has been signed.

There are two ways of getting to this cache via the shore or the boat. The cords for the cache are the location above the cache. Please use the parking lot waypoint listed to find the shore entry method. Please note the cords are a little off from the cache adding to the difficulty, I took the reading from a boat and not from the dive marker like I should have. However, once underwater should be easy to find as there is only one rock outcropping in the area.

If you are trying to reach it from the shore start from the Osprey Trail Head Parking and enter the water just below the parking. Swim out until you past the point just to the east then swim on a bearing of 46 degrees.

Congrats to Team DiveGuy and Ro0sTer for being the First to Find!!
