Erythia and Neptune Discuss Life Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

geodarts: This one is painful to archive because it is one of my favorite spots and the trail itself was in good shape out to the cache location. But it is gone, and maintaining caches on this side of the mountain has gotten increasingly problematic. Hopefully, someone more local to the area can take this spot and run with it.

Geocache Description:

A spot where the land and ocean join, where the vast expanse is before you, where Erythia and Neptune used to meet after she got off work to discuss the meaning of life. Perhaps they still do.

As I drove down the coast with my daughter, this spot beckoned. It is a place to watch the sunset and enjoy the beautiful rocks and the ocean below. I knew I needed to return, only this time with a cache.

From the State Park Property sign, take the trail towards the end of the point. There is poison oak along side of the trail and some areas where rock hopping may required. Since the cache is on State Park land, it is placed in conformity with their rules for caching and is within three feet of the trail.

If you reach a spot where the trail cuts through a massive amount of poison oak, you have gone too far. If you find yourself right in front of a rocky perch, you have not gone far enough. You do not have to go close to the edge. There is poison oak in the area, although you should be able to avoid it in making the find, be careful on the trail.

Please take a few extra moments to make sure that the container stays well-hidden - it is an ammo can close to the trail after all. We did a little CITOing before leaving, but I trust that cachers will respect the area and leave nothing behind.
