Back in '08, I went in search of a cache called Mud Bay, GC2218 published in 2001, that had not been found in two years. Toni R was up for the hunt and together we scoured the hillside. This was our second hunt for this cache. This time, after a long while, I hear her call "got it". It had been buried as the hill was eroding down to the bay. We moved it up the hill and took new coords. I posted notes and tried to contact the owner to no avail. Sadly, GS saw it fit to archive the cache. I kept meaning to remove the ammo can and even went for it once but forgot to look at the picture I took of the new hide spot.
Fast forward to today. I knew that the Whatcom Land Trust had arranged the purchase of this property a few years back but didn't know that they had completed the next phase of turning some of the property of Clark's Point into a park. When I saw the trail heading down, I decided to look for the old cache. I was amazed and happy to find that even though the new trail was rerouted to within 4 feet of the hiding spot, the old can was still there, unvisited for 2 years. I had restocked it back then so it is ready to go. I left the old log book in it and want you to continue on logging in it.
The cache is about 4 feet from the trail in the bend of the trail at the base of a tall, pointy stump. Please take care replacing it so that it is hidden as well or better than you found it. Have fun!
