Taupotiger: This magnetic cache container has been broken again. I'm not replacing it as this is the third time.
The guns are all sold, and will be removed shortly anyway.

Geocache Description:

This very easy cache is located at a local icon

In front of the building are three guns, two 20mm Oerlikos, and a 40 mm Bofor.
The two Oerlikons were purchased as bare guns from a scrap metal dealer, and the mountings I made out of used Wairakei steam pipe..

The 40mm gun and mounting was supplied by the Royal New Zealand Navy.
This 40 mm Bofor Mk3 anti aircraft weapon was operated by a crew of three on the mounting.
1 Trainer,-- he rotated the gun onto the target.
2 Layer,-- he elevated the gun onto the target, and fired the gun using a foot pedal.
3 Loader,-- he loaded the clips of four rounds into the autoloader, cocked the weapon, and operated the safety levers.
The loader stood on a platform behind the layer.

When I was in the Navy I maintained several of these guns.

The cache has only room for a log book and a small pencil.
Please bring your own pen just in case.
It is not necessary to climb onto the gardens to recover this cache.
The "keep off sign" is to prevent children climbing, or more important falling off the gun mounting.
