As the 21st century began, human evolution was at a turning point. Natural selection, the process by which the strongest, the smartest, the fastest, reproduced in greater numbers than the rest, a process which had once favored the noblest traits of man, now began to favor different traits. Most science fiction of the day predicted a future that was more civilized and more intelligent. But as time went on, things seemed to be heading in the opposite direction. A dumbing down. How did this happen? Evolution does not necessarily reward intelligence. With no natural predators to thin the herd, it began to simply reward those who reproduced the most, and left the intelligent to become an endangered species. The years passed, mankind became stupider at a frightening rate. Some had high hopes the genetic engineering would correct this trend in evolution, but sadly the greatest minds and resources were focused on one thing and one thing only…GEOCACHING. Thus was born the BRAWNDO Endurance series!
In this off the trail series, you can expect heavy brush, thorns, spider webs, and poison ivy in abundance. Don’t expect to walk down a trail to any of the caches in this series. Bring a walking or probing stick or risk your phalanges! Bring water w/electrolytes, if you attempt the entire series in the hotter month’s high heat and humidity.
There may be reptiles (watch your step), mossies, chiggers (redbugs) and ticks, so bring the extra-strong bug juice. Area is not a normal place folks hiking the Goose Creek Trail visit and there may be old barbed wire in these woods. It may be very muddy with water standing after a rain also.
Watch for the Cottonmouth Water Moccasin, the Copperhead, and the Coral Snake and give them wide berth. There is heavy POISON IVY everywhere in this wooded area! In the event you are exposed to PI, wash ASAP with soap and then rub the inside of a banana peel on the bumps for instant relief. Then eat the banana to help replace electrolytes.
This series is intended to provide cachers with a bush-whacking adventure with the potential to score a bunch of smileys without having to drive to Timbuktu, Bootiebump, Egypt, or Channelview… and will satisfy your macho-adventurous nature with a possibly physically taxing exposure to the great outdoors – Baytown, Texas style.

Note: You may want to walk the perimeter and knock off the caches one by one, but the multiple on the inside is like a trip to Borneo, or the Congo, or Arkansas, except there are no cheetahs, monkeys, or trailer parks there. In other words, “it ain’t easy to get to”.
Please enjoy the hike and leave as little trace of your passing as possible to preserve the dense under-brush and keep the series tough and rough and a challenge for future cachers. Good luck – you are going to need it and don’t forget to bring extra electrolytes!
