Turn off New England Highway onto Hebden Road five kilometres north of Power Stations and continue on and you will come to Antiene Railway Station road on the left which is an ideal area for Train Spotting. Antiene Bus Shelter is on the right-hand side of Hebden Road which winds its way back to the Highway at Ravensworth. There is a caravan park and camping ground about a kilometre further on past the cache. This piece of 20th century architecture has withstood at least 60 years of harsh changeable atmospheric conditions and has provided cosy conditions for several wayfarers over that period. Snugly located in a picturesque setting surrounded by native trees, the view from the front entrance has to be seen to be believed. In later years the unit was used by a Gate Keeper allowing trucks to enter or leave the adjacent property. He was a big chap and preferred to sleep outside in the sun on a couple of folding chairs during his working day. They were pretty well folded by the time his job was terminated and he was generous enough to leave them for the next occupant but somebody pinched them on Clean-up Australia Day.
LATE NEWS: The bus shelter was blown over in Dec.2013 by strong winds and was removed by an unknown person or two so I will include a photo of the shelter and the view
