What About Wherigo?
Cache Up NB is putting on a workshop all about the rarely seen
Wherigo geocache. If you've ever wanted to find a Wherigo cache but
didn't have the right hardware, this is your chance to both find a
brand new Wherigo cache and learn some basics about how Wherigo's
are made.
The event will take place on September 29th at 7pm on the upper
level of the Riverview Sobey's (the new one). Cachers will meet
inside where they will learn the basics of how Wherigo caches work,
supported hardware, types of cartridges, and much more.
You'll then be brought outside and taken on a new Wherigo
adventure published recently. For those who have never had a chance
to log a Wherigo cache, whether it be due to time or lack of the
proper hardware, this is your chance to get that elusive icon. For
those with compatible hardware, you can download the new Wherigo
cartridge
here.
Also during this workshop, we'll be going over the basics of how
to build a Wherigo using the newly published I Lost My Keys as a
sample and reference. Those who wish to bring their laptops are
welcome to do so but they are not required to learn from this
session. I'm not sure if the room has Wifi or not but you can still
download the builder here ahead of
time if you are interested in seeing how it works. You DO NOT need
the builder to attend the workshop.
Anyone attending that has a Wherigo compatible device, we
recommend you download the above cartridge ahead of time and place
it on your GPS before coming to the event. We will have the
cartridges downloaded for anyone who forgets. We also ask that even
if you have already found the I Lost My Keys cache, to please load
the Wherigo file anyway so you can help others who wish to
participate.
If you've ever had any interest in learning more about the
Wherigo platform, and Wherigo caches, this event is for you.
This event was inspired by
Coopsquared who took a group from Fredericton out after a
breakfast to show them a bit about Wherigo's for his new one,
Save Princess Peach.
The room is upstairs in the new Sobey's. From the main entrance,
turn left towards the coffee machines and you'll see a door on the
left which should have a sign for the event. Hope to see you
there!
