Sweeney Toddlers: Well, this one has had a good innings. 10 years this Autumn. However, from the sound of the last couple of logs, some new fences have been constructed and visitors to GZ aren't welcome. It may mean we can't even retrieve our geolitter, but will have a look next time we are in the area. If anyone does visit post archiving, you are very welcome to remove the container.

Geocache Description:

A cache in Long Wood, on Bonnyton Moor, with a beautiful panoramic view of Glasgow. Because it's near Glasgow the container is a (camo'd) 35mm container (but on a giant scale...LOL). We would like it to be logged on line in a particular way (more below). Please stick to the main footpath (rather than following the arrow) until you are well beyond the occasionally used clay shooting range. Near GZ can be extremely boggy so wellies or boots are strongly recommended.

For some (no names mentioned) caching is all about being First to Find. This cache is a bit different. We got the idea from a cache we visited last year (GC1F7RH) but they, in turn, got the idea from somewhere else. The first to find will, of course, be FTF. However, everyone after that will need to use their imagination and log here what they were FIRST TO............

For instance:

First to find without a GPS
First to find with their grandweans
First to find on Christmas Eve
First to find with a torch
etc, etc........

We'd prefer that anyone without an imagination doesn't visit. However, if they do and we get logs like "TFTC", "Found it", "

" (yes, you know who you are) we will promptly poke fun at them on the cache page. Although we will accept the log we will ask them to seek advice from a more imaginative friend and consider trying again....LOL.

What about the cache itself? Well, it's a straightforward find but the terrain is a bit wet and lumpy (there is no path). It can probably be approached from lots of directions and be part of a lovely walk as described in our Titwood cache page. The most direct approach is from the parking waypoint which we have included. There is a rarely used clay shooting range near the parking point so the best option is to go through (please don't climb it) the gate and follow the public footpath towards North Moorhouse for a couple of hundred metres before starting towards GZ. You need to cross a boggy bit and a very small wall before reaching the hiding place.

On a nice day you get a stunning panorama of Glasgow and beyond from GZ. On the day of placement it was drizzling so we'd appreciate any pics from amateur photographers (Harry, Alan, Steve,..............?) that we can post here.
