Geocache Description:

Camping & caching event to say goodbye to summer as Autumn fast approaches. Friday 10th September from midday ~ Sunday 12th September 2010.
This event is independent of any local or regional group and I hope that it will tempt cachers new and old who don't normally attend events to either come along and camp, or come along on the Saturday for a fun day, meeting fellow cachers and enjoy the spectacular Peak District countryside.

The campsite is VERY basic so don't expect high standards. Basically, it is one sink and one toilet in a farmers field, with only cold water! However, as the cost is only £2.00 per person a night we shouldn't complain. Proper old fashioned camping. Easily accessible from the M1, leave at junction 29 Chesterfield.
The site is in a very picturesque part of Derbyshire with lots of great areas around for caching. Tideswell, the plague village of Eyam and Buxton are all a short drive away.

If you don't feel like cooking on site there is a brilliant hikers and truckers cafe just over the road, open until 5.00pm, on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They do a very nice full English. There is also a pub within yards of the site.

No need to book ahead, just turn up, although the site owner has asked that I let her have approximate numbers a couple of days before. On Saturday 11th there will be a chance to come and meet up at the site for people who don't wish to camp, where you will be able to swap coins (there will be an ammo box that you can drop them in to or pick them up from) and come and say hello. This will take place from midday until 6.00pm

Bring a tent, or small campervans/vans are allowed on site. . You are able to park your car next to your tent. If you are in a campervan, please be aware that there is no electricity on site. Small generators are allowed. Campfires are not permitted on site.

The site is not marked as a campsite so keep and eye open for the Jacaru Flag that marks the site. The event will be open from midday on Friday 10th September 2010 and ends on Sunday afternoon 12th September.

As this is Derbyshire and we are pretty high up, bring some warm and waterproof clothing (just in case)! There are lots of caches around the area, so plenty for everyone, including an Earthcache not too far away.

If anyone can play an instrument bring it along and hopefully we can have a sing song on the Saturday night.

Even if you can only camp for one night, please come along and join in the fun.

There appears to be a good signal from the site, so mobile phones and/or laptops shouldn't be a problem for logging caches.

There will be a quiz sheet given out to those who want one and a prize for the person who gives the most correct answers. In the event of a draw a prize to an equal value will be given.

Please be gentle with me, this is the first event that I have organised! I can't promise the best weather, but I will do my best.

EXTRAS

Nearest major supermarkets are either in Chesterfield, Chapel en le Frith or Buxton, so if you are going to cater for yourselves you need to stock up before you arrive. Also, bring loo rolls with you, just in case the site runs out.

There will be at least 1 new cache placed to coincide with the camp.

EXTRA EXTRAS

If you are bringing kids with you and you don't want to spend the whole time caching, we have found the site is good for kite flying, so bring a kite. If you have a flag, bring that and get it flying as well.

Also not too far away is Peak Forest which is home to the Michael Elliot Donkey Sanctuary, this is free to visit and kids would love it.

EXTRA EXTRA EXTRAS

On Saturday from 6.00pm onwards we will be firing up the barbeque. There will be a gazebo, so if it is wet we should still be able to cook. This is very much a bring your own affair, the barbie is there for all to use, just bring whatever you want to eat and chuck it on.
