August 1st
holds a special place in Yorkshire's history for, on this day in
1759, soldiers from Yorkshire regiments who had fought in the
battle of Minden, in Germany, picked white roses from bushes near
to the battlefields as a tribute to their fallen comrades. Since
that time the white rose has become the symbol of Yorkshire and is
proudly worn by Yorkshiremen and women on Yorkshire
Day.
So roll up,
roll up on Sunday August 1st 2010 for a great day of
Geocaching, chat, drink/food plus the opportunity to get your hands
on one of the few remaining 2009 Yorkshire Geocoin minted to
commemorate the day last year.
Location is
at the Reindeer Inn in Overton, West Yorkshire -10 mins from M1
J39. The pub has good beer, good food, nice views, and is kiddie
friendly, however dogs are not allowed inside. We have the
conservatory at the back booked between 12:00 and 15:00 where there
is plenty of space and weather permitting access to the beer garden
where doggies can join us.
On the day
there will be several new caches in the area with some 2009
Yorkshire Geocoins as an FTF prizes.
Game plan
… meet in the Pub car park at 10:30am onwards where
instructions will be available for some of the new unpublished
caches in the area, back at the pub from 12:00 onwards for
lunch, and general chat, then on to more caching and those FTF
2009 Yorkshire Geocoins
