Geocache Description:

The walk from Kambah Pool to Cotter is very pretty and on a great track. There are lots of places for scenic views and great rocks. The very first meander along here was by Tankengine - now Norkmeister has joined it all up and has encouraged cachers to make a very pleasant journey. I recommend two cars and a one-way trip.

Captain Tomato and I were determined to make the entire walk from Kambah Pool to Cotter today - despite the fact that there was one small problem - a puzzle cache lay unsolved. Our brains were getting plenty of exercise and still there was no light at the end of the tunnel. So we came up the crazy idea that we would just use the clues in the listing for An Unnecessary Cache and see if we could somehow fluke a find. It certainly seemed highly unlikely and futile. In the end, we didn't expect to find the cache anyway. We simply planned to lazily enjoy the whole day rambling and meandering all along the river.

So this cache was taken along to be named as a parody of our adventure. We planted the cache and then had to change the name ever so slightly!

We had three clues from the listing - "this cache is 10 km from the Kambah Pool end of the walk, but only 3.2 km from the Cotter." - "a likely hiding place with [a] few other redeeming features" and of course the gz hint.

When we arrived at the gz for this cache, we were very excited at all the redeeming features - a lovely walking bridge below, a bushwalking register, a park bench, a waterfall over yonder, and a cool column of rock nearby. Surely this was a likely gz for An Unnecessary Cache even if it didn't fit with the distance clue at all. Needless to say, a massive search was instigated. We knew we were beaten on the hunt here for An Unnecessary Cache.

I thought that this place was the appropriate gz for my parody cache. We phoned Norkmeister to tell him about my proposed cache - I was going to list on GCA if it was in conflict with GC. Norkmeister didn't give us any info we didn't already know except to confirm the first clue could be relied on, and that this gz was available.

From here, we wandered along exploring any place with some redeeming features - and what do you know we found the ONE! It was a real team effort - and thanks to Mr Roo for the correct interpretation of the hint. I can't guarantee that you will fluke it too.
