Selim cave
Selim cave got its name after sultan Selim who according to the
legend killed here the people of 7 villages with the smoke of the
fire he made at the entrance of the cave. Archeology couldn’t
prove any of this, neverthless they did explore remainings of
prehistoric fireplace, charred pieces of wood and animal
bones.
The cave is the remains of the spring cave which formed in the
thick benches of the upper Triassic limestone along the
northeast-southwest fault line of the rock, also following the
direction of a rock's angle of inclination, and dried out as the
mass of the mountain rose. The side walls of the chamber, whose
width narrows down from 25-27 metres at the entrance to 10-12
metres deeper inside and has a total length of 45 metres, open a
window to the often 2-metre-thick benches of the Dachstein
limestone, which encapsulates the cavity. The current end of the
cave has been formed by the stone pieces from the former collapse
of the ceiling and subsequent wash-downs, consisting of loess clay,
loose stones and large junks of stone in material. The cave is
assumed to continue behind the collapsed ceiling.

In order to log this earthcache do the
following:
1.
Take a picture of yourself in the cave (see sample
photo1 or
photo2) and upload it to your log (optional part of logging
requirement).
2.
Inside the cave look around, and
count how many openings you see (including the cave entrances and
flues at the top of the cave).
3. Near the bigger entrance of the cave (Entrance1 waypoint: N 47° 35.410' E 018° 24.415')
you can find an information panel - unfortunatelly only in
Hungarian. On the panel you have to find, how high is the hall of
the cave - search for the numbers in the 4th row of first
paragraph (see this
photohint).

Szelim-barlang
Szelim-barlang a nevét Szelim
szultán után kapta, aki a legenda szerint a barlang bejáratánál
tuzet gyújtott és a füsttel a barlangban rejtozo, 7 falu lakosságát
ölte meg. Az archeológusok ebbol semmit sem tudtak
bizonyítani, csupán egy oskori tuzhely maradványait, elszenesedett
fadarabokat és állati csontokat találtak.
A barlang a felso triász mészko vastag padjaiban a kozet ÉK-DNy
irányú törésvonala mentén, de a kozetdoléshez is igazodva egykor
kialakult forrásbarlang maradványa, mely a hegy tömegének
kiemelkedésével vált szárazzá. A kezdetben 25-27 m, beljebb 10-12 m
szélességu, 45 m hosszúságú csarnok oldalfalain jól
tanulmányozhatók az üreget magába záró dachsteini mészko nem ritkán
2 m-es vastagságot is eléro padjai. A barlang jelenlegi végpontját
a mennyezet hajdani beszakadásából és az azt követo bemosódásból
származó, löszös agyagból, kotörmelékbol és nagy kotömbökbol álló
omladék alkotja. Az omladék mögött a barlangjárat feltételezetten
folytatódik.

Az earthcache
megtalálásához a következo feltételeket
teljesítsd:
1. Készíts magadról egy fényképet a barlang belsejében (nézd meg a
minta fényképeket -
photo1 vagy
photo2) és töltsd fel a logodhoz (a logolási feltételek opcionális része)!
2. A barlang belsejében nézz küröl és számold meg, hogy mennyi
nyílása van (beleértve a barlang bejáratait és a tetején levo kürtoket is).
3. A
barlang nagyobb bejáratánál (Entrance1 útvonalpont: N 47° 35.410' E 018° 24.415')
található információs tábláról olvasd le, hogy hány méter magas a
barlang csarnoka (segítség
a leolvasáshoz).
