Kunanalling is site 2 on The Golden Quest Discovery Trail
With the ruins of the premier hotel all that remains of kunanalling, it takes some effort to imagine a once bustling town with over 800 residents. Like all of the early gold rush settlements, it started out as a loose cluster of mining camp. And, as was the case with a number of other early mining centres, it was simply known by its distance from Coolgardie, this being approximately 25 miles. The 25 mile only became Kunanalling after a town site had been officially declared.
Although the first European prospectors arrived in December 1892, kunanalling didn’t reach its peak until 1898-99, when more than 400 men were then employed by the premier Mining Company.
