Geocache Description:

For more information see the Bonus cache listing GC2AYCC or the first in the series GC2AYAC

Sweet Track....
On the East side and parallel to the road is ‘The Sweet Track’. This is the oldest footpath in the world !!!, it was found when clearing some of the peat moor. Originally the track was raised above the water level on the flooded moor. Because of the nature of the peat, some of the original wood supports and planks have been preserved. According to tree ring dating and carbon-dating the trackway was built in the winter/spring of 3807 / 3806 BC. For further info click this link The nearby Peat Moor Centre is well worth a visit if you want to explore further, and there is an Earthcache there GC1D5V4
