Geocache Description:

Generally, hot springs work the same way pecolators do. Cool water moves down to a heat source, the heat and pressure force the heated water up.

What makes a hot spring HOT, is the passing of the water past a sealed magma chamber somewhere deep underground. Like a radiator, the magma chamber transfers its heat to the water; the water, keeps the chamber wall from melting all the way through, and by this natural heat exchange, the hot spring is maintained. At least until the water stops flowing or the magma chamber moves from over its geo-hotspot.

The temperature of the water is kept relatively constant by the constant flow of the water and the relative proximity of the magma chamber.
To claim this cache, look at the two information boards to answer the following questions:
1. Name the 4 invasive plants listed on the information panel
2. How many ducklings with the mother Duck? (Drakes are more colorful)
3. What sort of water critters do not belong in Nevada creeks?
4. What type of nutlets do Great blue herons nibble on?
