Well of Perpetuity Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

TheHarvesters: If only we could state here that we are closing this page due to the fact that there is no longer a need for care of the article.

Sadly however, as is evidenced in the logs of this page, a disturbance at the site has meant a relocation is required.

In the time we have taken stewardship of the receptacle this is merely our first movement.

But, of course, it has been in our world for decades and over that duration it was intended to rest in the Well for Perpetuity but has not.

The great need to have this thing hidden away untouched and (in particular) unseen appears to be matched by the maddening curiosity that travellers have to understand its content.

And so, time after time it is the object of short pilgrimage.. and it is incumbent upon the Guardians, (now us!) to relocate it.

We have done this deed again. Help us, caching friends, to keep this article lost.

Leave it be, and do not speak of it.

Geocache Description:

This cache was set to compliment the Picnic at your Peril! event.

It's current setting and the nature of the hide has only been achieved with the express permissions of both the Head Park Ranger and Park Manager, along with the more mysterious inhabitants of this place.

It is a short, simple two stage cache, but you will need a little stealth and just a smidge of lifting power to retrieve.

However, you must read on to understand the gravity of the undertaking.

Having spent a great deal of time in Manor Farm parkland talking to the locals and exploring areas that were new to us we happened to stumble upon a well.

It had been maintained, we later found, by various custodians over several centuries. In fact, guarded would be a better word to use...

We, TheHarvesters, publish the above explicit co-ordinates for the Well in order to gain your assistance in the conservation of a most extraordinary artifact.

We believe the geocaching community is an honourable one and that we must, as a collective, ensure that this vessel is never opened.

When we met with our friends of these woods they seemed frightened by the prospect of even handling the container. They insisted it was hidden away. Kept lost, as it had been for generations in what is now called the "Well of Perpetuity". They refused to be clear about what we should fear... we can only guess. But they implore:

! DO NOT !

! OPEN THE BOX !

The casket is indeed stashed away so that common folk (the muggles) will not easily gain access to it, and then... er... who knows?

However, it is no longer actually in the Well. We have relocated it, as the site seemed to be gaining too much unwanted attention. In order that you can help ensure its safekeeping, we share here some simple instructions that will guide you to its new setting.

Be Warned! By reviewing the information that follows you irreversibly assume the shared responsibility of latter-day Guardian for this curious relic.

We have employed a multi-stage element to this task in order that finding the box will be a muggle-struggle. However for a cacher (such as yourself) this will be very straightforward.

On the Well itself (at the posted coordinates) you will see a series of six numbers. Treat these as AB C DEF.

You can then travel to the new location of this most beguiling treasure, by using coordinates as follows:
N50 54.EB(C-3)
W001 17.F(B+1)A

Let us remind you that you will need to visit and follow this path only if you have need to attend to the box in a custodial fashion. ;o)

Until such a time, keep this information safe, and remember...

! DO NOT !
! OPEN THE BOX !

Should you indeed find yourself in the position where you think you do need to extract the box, then please take every care to ensure you are not disturbed when removing or replacing it.

The location is in and around open walking ground, and yet well hidden.

The foot traffic through the precise spot is very low, so you should be able to do this with ease, so long as some care is taken to check for muggles before retrieving. We encourage you to be as discreet as possible when considering what you have found, and to replace just as you find, or better!

15/01/2011: Sadly we have today become aware of several cachers (about 70+) who couldn't resist "having a peep" tsk! Photographic evidence can be seen below.
This is a dreadful catalogue of happenstance. We Harvesters shall need to consider what to do... ;o)

If you recognised your stunned features below but have not yet been 'shamed' then please let us know and we'll put that straight. 8)
