Geocache Description:

This is an underwater hydrocache. It can only be reached by boat. It is on the bottom of the river in 5 feet of water.

This is a favorite swimming spot for boaters of the upper Magothy River. The cache is at the tip end of the sandbar (the focal point). After the cache, anchor and stay a while to enjoy swimming on the sandbar. There are now several hydro-caches on the Magothy so you can make a day of it on the river. Lots of osprey, ducks, geese, great-blue herons, and fellow boaters to see. Come by motor boat, sailboat, row-boat, canoe or kayak. See GC1E2CA and GC1E2CT for small boat launching advice. Water crafts that can be carried can be launched from BEACHWOOD PARK (on Beechwood Park road) for free- it is about 500 feet from the car to the water. There is also a commercial marina (Hamilton Harbor) very nearby at 39N05.486 76W31.689 that may allow you to park and launch from there if they are not busy. You must use a boat of some kind to reach this cache.

The cache is an wide-mouth water bottle attached with a small carabiner to a rock to weight it to the bottom. Find the cache by walking and feeling it with your feet. It is about 5 feet deep at the spot (4.5 at low tide, 5.5 at high tide). Then dive down and unhook the water bottle. DON’T MOVE FROM THE SPOT. After exploiting the cache, replace the double-bagged zip-locs, make sure the lid is on tight, and then reattach the bottle back to the loop on the rock using the carabiner. Please let us know if there is any water inside the bottle. We tested it in a 6.5 foot pool and it was dry so we’re hoping. Also, if for any reason you cannot replace the cache (it is soaked or you cannot find the rock to reattach it) then please bring it by water to the private/community marina at 39N 05.767, 76W 32.180 and leave it under the bench there. Then let us know by private message and we will replace it. If you can’t find it using GPS alone, then read the hint which will provide “line-of-sight” directions to bring you right on the spot.

Congrats to Corfmania for FTF (less than 2 hours from publishing, he swam 0.8 miles roundtrip from Hamilton Harbor...this is not recommended...please come by boat). We hope you enjoy this unique underwater Maryland cache. Astronut42 and Ewsquirrel97
