Geocache Description:

This is a continuation of the series that Dorsetgal started in Dorset (GC1K6MX), after hearing about it how it got established in the US on the Podcacher Podcast, and which FantasticCat has continued in Greater London (GC1N994). Maybe in time it will become established nationwide.

Guidelines for this series are below:
1. FTF'er should place the next cache in the series (in this case, The Curse of the FTF # 6) within 1 month...
Otherwise the curse will prevent you from ever getting another FTF again!!! Muhahahahahahahaha!
2. You can only be a FTF for this series once. This spreads the FTF love around, and gives others a chance to play along.
3. Cache can be any type of cache (Puzzle, Multi, etc.), but it should be set within the county of Surrey.
4. You must include this set of guidelines in your listing for the series.
By way of clarification, there is no requirement besides the standard signing of the cache log to prevent you from logging this cache when found. Everyone should log their find, and hopefully the FTF person will play along and place another cache, but it is in no way a requirement for logging your find.

The Series so far…..
1. Welchman (GC27QX6)
2. North Downs Way (GC27YRA)
3. Cabbage Stalk Town (GC2909J)
4. The Damocles Option (GC29Q10)

Leigh, lying on the weald below the limestone North Downs, has had various spellings throughout history: Leye, Ladeghe (12th Century), Legh, Leygh (14th Century), Ley (16th Century).

Leigh is not mentioned in Doomsday Book, its name describing a clearing in the woods. It was part of the Earls of Warren estates, but in the time of Richard I it was given to the Prior and Convent of St Mary Southwark. After the dissolution of the religious houses in 1539 Henry VIII granted the manor of Shellwood to Sir Thomas Nevil for the payment of service: one knight's fee. see www.leigh-surrey.org.uk for more information.

The cache itself is situated just outside the centre of Leigh. While you're in the area, you could also look for nearby Church Micro 3...Leigh (GC178NA).

There is no pen or pencil in this cache so remember to take one with you.
