In Almere-stad ligt een woonwijk "muziekwijk". Sinds eind 80'er jaren van de vorige eeuw in gebruik, en verdeeld in verschillende delen. Er is een "popwijk" (Golden Earingstraat, Elvis Presleystraat), er is een "instrumentenwijk" ("Pianoweg", "Harpstraat"), een "klassieke wijk" (Rachmaninovstraat, Chopinpad) en nog zo een paar.

Michael Joseph Jackson, geboren op 29 augustus 1958, overleden 25 juni 2009.
Hij geldt als een van de succesvolste artiesten van de 20e eeuw. Jackson onderscheidde zich door zijn herkenbare hoge stem en zijn typische dansbewegingen. Jackson stond al op zeer jeugdige leeftijd als lid van The Jackson 5 op het podium en startte als tiener een solocarrière. In het begin van de jaren '80 was hij internationaal één van de grootste popsterren. Hij bereikte zijn grootste succes met het album Thriller, dat met 110 miljoen verkochte exemplaren geldt als het best verkochte album aller tijden. Jackson heeft wereldwijd tussen 300 en 750 miljoen albums en singles verkocht.
Jackson overleed op donderdag 25 juni 2009, nadat hij rond het middaguur in zijn woning in Los Angeles door een hartstilstand werd getroffen.

In Almere-stad there is an area called "music area". It has been in use since the late 80's of the last century, and is divided into several seperate parts. There is a pop-area (Golden Earingstreet, Elvis Presleystreet), we have an "instruments quarter" (Pianoroad, Harpstreet), a classical quarter is also present (Rachmaninovstreet, Chopinpath) and so on.
Michael Joseph Jackson, born august 29 1958, died june 25 2009. MJ is one of the most succesful artists of the 20th century. He stood out with his high pitched voice and his typical dance moves. Jackson was a member of the Jackson-5 at a very young age and started a solo career as a young teenager.
In the early 80's he was recognized internationally as one of the greatest popstars. His largest success was the album Thriller of which 100 million copies were sold. It remains the best sold album ever. Jackson sold around 300 and 750 million albums and singles worldwide.
Jackson died thursday June 25 2009 in his house in Los Angeles (US) after his hart stopped.
