Starzlachklamm – „Sturzbach, über Felsen springende Aach“
Der natürlicher Schöpfer der Klamm ist die Starzlach, die zwischen Grünten und Wertacher Hörnle in 1070m entspringt und von zahlreichen Rinnsalen gespeist wird. Die Starzlach mündet ca. 300m tiefer bei Sonthofen in die Ostrach.
Seit Jahrtausenden sucht die Starzlach ihren Weg über Felsabstürze und zwängt sich durch kesselförmige Wassermühlen in die Klamm. Erst im Jahr 1932 wurde die Starzlachklamm erschlossen. Die Anfänge der Starzlachklamm entstanden als die Starzlach ihr natürliches Flussbett fand, die durch tektonische Bewegungen der Erdkruste entstanden ist.
Markantes Kennzeichen der Starzlachklamm sind die hohe wildromantische Nebenklamm, der imposante Einbruch des torartigen Felsdaches und die trockenen Wassermühlen. Die sog. Wassermühlen entstehen durch in Löcher gefallene Steine, die vom Wasser herumgewirbelt wserden. Über die Jahrtausende werden so Hohlräume in den Fels geschliffen.
Die Starzlach hat sich in der Klamm durch die unterschiedlichsten geologischen Zonen gefräst. Dort wo der Verlauf klammartig ist, dort wird eine Nummulitenkalkzone durchschnitten. Das lateinische Wort „nummun“ bedeutet Münze. Gemeint sich damit die münzenförmigen Tierreste mit Kalkschalen, die im Mitteloligozän bei der Alpenbildung vor etwa 30 Mio. Jahren im Meeresschlamm verschwanden. Die zuerst waagrechten Schichten wurden bei der Entstehung der Alpen geschoben, gefaltet und gehoben, so daß die Schichten heute fast senkrecht stehen.
In der Klamm befinden sich neben Stadschiefer und Erzkalken rund 15 verschiedene Arten von Nummuliten. Darunter finden sich auch Versteinerungen der seltenen Krabbe „Xanthopsis sonthofenensis“.
Öffnungszeiten:
Die Klamm ist von April bis November geöffnet – im Winter wird aus Sicherheitsgründen von einer Begehung abgesehen.

Zum Unterhalt der Klammwege wird eine Eintritts- und Parkgebühr erhoben.
Parken 3€ für 3 Std oder 4€ für einen Tag
Eintritt: Erw 3,50€, Kinder ab 6 Jahren 2,00€.
Da sich die Klamm in sehr "ungleichmäßigem" Gelände befindet, ist die Besichtigung mit einem Kinderwagen unmöglich. Auch wird zu festem Schuhwerk geraten. Hunde dürfen angeleint durchgeführt werden. Fahrräder können leider nicht mitgenommen werden.

Um den Earthcache zu loggen müsst ihr folgende Fragen per Mail beantworten:
1.) Direkt am Eingang der Klamm (oberhalb des Kassenhauses) befindet sich ein Informationsschild.
Aus welchem Material besteht das Informationsschild?
2.) Beim Wegpunkt F 2 ist eine große Wassermühle / Rondell.Welche Höhe zeigt Dein GPS an?
3.) Beim Wegpunkt F 3, kurz vor dem torartigen Felsdurchbruch, mache dort ein Foto!
Von dem Durchbruch, optional mit dir oder deinem Navi und füge es dem Logeintrag bei!
4.) An Wegpunkt F 4 dem Ende der Klamm befindet sich ein Einschnitt mit roten Felsbrocken. Mache ein Foto,
von deinem GPS Gerät vor und mit den Steinen, wenn du möchtest auch gerne von Dir selbst und füge es dem Logeintrag bei!
5.) Am Ende der Klamm (Meldepunkt 25) befinden sich Wegweiser. Wie lange dauert der Aufstieg zu
den Erzgruben (Erlebniswelt am Grünten) lt. Wegweiser?

Starzlachklamm - "torrent, leaping over rocks Aach"
The creator of the gorge is the natural Starzlach that arises between Grünten and Wertach Hörnle in 1070m and is fed by numerous rivulets. The Starzlach flows about 300m deep in Sonthofen in the Ostrach.
For thousands of years looking for the Starzlach their way through rock falls and making his way through cauldron water mills in the gorge. Only in 1932 the Starzlachklamm was developed. An entrance and parking fee is charged for the maintenance of the gorge paths.
Parking 3€ for 3 hours or 4€ for a day.
Admission: Adults €3.50, children from 6 years €2.00.
As the gorge in a very "uneven" site is located, the tour with a stroller is impossible. It is also advised to sturdy shoes. Dogs must be carried out on a leash. Unfortunately, bicycles can not be taken.
Around the gorge, there are other very nice hiking trails.

3) At waypoint F 3, just before the gate-like rock breakthrough, there take e picture! From the breakthrough,
optional with you or your GPS and add it to the log entry!
4) At the end waypoint F 4 of the gorge itself is a cut with red rocks.
Take a photo of your GPS device before and with the stones, if you want you also like to add it by itself and in the log entry!
5) At the end of the gorge are a guide.
