Ihr seit vom Namen des Caches irritiert? Diese kleine Wortspielerei kam uns in den Sinn als wir überlegten, ob wir einen Earthcache über ein Soll machen. Ihr wißt nicht was ein Soll ist? Hier erfahrt ihr es!
Ein Soll oder Söll bezeichnet in jungpleistozänen Landschaften vor allem im nordostdeutschen Tiefland (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Brandenburg, Ostholstein), aber wohl auch im Alpenvorland ein in der Regel kreisrundes oder ovales Kleingewässer in meist offener Landschaft. Sie sind typisch für Grundmoränen, können aber auch in anderen Landschaften der Glazialen Serie auftreten. Sölle befinden sich innerhalb von meist trichterartigen Geländehohlformen. Sie zählen zu den Stillgewässern und besitzen für gewöhnlich keinen oberflächlichen Zu- und Abfluss. Zwischenzeitliches Trockenfallen, vor allem in den Sommermonaten, ist für viele Sölle typisch.
Ein Soll entsteht, wenn ein Toteisstück von Schmelzwasserablagerungen überdeckt wird. Durch das schmelzende Toteis bildet sich ein unterirdischer Hohlraum. Dieser bricht ein und Grundwasser füllt die Senke. Ein Soll ist also ein sehr kleiner Toteissee.
Die Weichsel-Kaltzeit, (umgangssprachlich auch Weichsel-Eiszeit genannt) ist die bisher jüngste der in Nordeuropa und im nördlichen Mitteleuropa aufgetretenen Vergletscherungsphasen (Glazial) des pleistozänen Eiszeitalters. Sie begann vor ca. 115.000 Jahren und endete vor 11.700 Jahren. Das angrenzende Marzahner Fenn entstand, als sich eine Gletscherzunge zum Zeitpunkt des weitesten Vorstoßes des Eises weit nach Südwesten vorschob. Dies führte dann auch zur Entstehung dieses Solls.
An diesem Soll gibt es jedoch eine kleine Besonderheit: Es entstand nicht durch die Abtrennung eines Eisstücks vom Gletscher während sich dieser zurückzog in dem Bereich den der Gletscher zuvor einnahm. Hier muß ein Stück abgebrochen sein und vom Gletscher über die Seitenmoräne gerollt sein.
Um diesen Cache zu loggen besucht die o.g. Koordinaten und macht bitte ein Foto (Bitte keine Spoiler!) von euch oder eurem GPS vor dem von dort aus gut sichtbaren Soll und ladet dieses zu eurem Log hoch. Bitte beantwortet die drei folgenden Fragen (die Antworten findet ihr auf der an den Koordinaten befindlichen Hinweistafel):
1) Wann zog sich laut Hinweistafel das Eis zurück?
2) Mit welchen Schmelzwasserablagerungen wurde laut Hinweistafel das Toteis bedeckt?
3) Bitte schätzt den Durchmesser des Solls (in Meter).

Bitte benutzt nur den Naturlehrpfad für den An- / Abmarsch. Sölle sind streng geschützt und es herrscht ganzjährig u.a. absolutes Betretungsverbot (natürlich nur für das Soll selbst und nicht für den Naturlehrpfad an dem sich der Earthcache befindet).

A Soll (or Söll) described in Pleistocene landscapes, especially in northeast German lowlands (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Brandenburg, East Holstein), but probably also in the Alpine foothills in a generally circular or oval small bodies of water, usually in open country. They are typical of ground moraine, but can also occur in other landscapes of the Glacial Series. Kettle holes are mostly within Geländehohlformen funnel. They are among the standing water and have usually no surface inflow and outflow. Intermediate drying out, especially in the summer months, is typical of many Sölle.
A Soll be created when a pice of stagnant ice masked by meltwater deposits is. By melting stagnant ice is formed an underground cavity. This one breaks down and groundwater fills the basin. A Soll is therefore a very small kettle lakes - it's a kettle hole.
The Weichselian glaciation, (commonly known as Vistula Ice Age) is the youngest so far in northern Europe and northern Central Europe occurred glacial of the Pleistocene Ice Age. It began about 115,000 years ago and ended 11 700 years ago. The adjacent Marzahner Fenn was created when a glacier at the time of the furthest thrust of the glacial ice far observed on the southwest. This also led to the creation of this Soll.
At this Soll there is one Particularity: It was not created by the separation of a piece of ice from the glacier retreated during this in the area of the glacier occupied before. There must be a piece broken off from the glacier and be rolled on the lateral moraine.
To log this cache, visited the Coordinates and please make a photo of you or your GPS in front of the Soll (be clearly visible from there, no Spoiler please!), and invite this up at your log. Please answer the following three questions (you find the answers on the billboard located at the coordinates):
1) When pulled back, according to the billboard, the ice?
2) What meltwater deposits, according to the billboard, stagnant ice was covered?
3) Please estimate the diameter of the Soll (in meters).
