OGA Day
Saturday, August 14, 2010
Join the Ontario Geocaching Association for some fun and
socializing at one of the many events being held throughout Ontario
to celebrate OGA Day.
The Ontario Geocaching Association was formed in 2004 and has a
membership of 1300+ and growing. OGA provides fun, information,
education and support to the Ontario geocaching community. For more
information or to join, visit http://www.ontgeocaching.com.
Come join us for a good old fashioned summer picnic and bbq! We'll
start to gather around 11AM at the old one room school house at
Brown's Corners for a good game of GeoBingo to mix everyone up and
break the ice for new comers while giving old-friends a chance to
catch up with each other. A potluck lunch will start around 12.
I'll have BBQ'd beef burgers & pork burgers available for $2 a
piece. Buns and condiments and fixings will be supplied. In your
log please list what you'll be bringing. Salads, desserts, drinks
and other picnic friendly dishes are welcome. There is a fridge on
site, as well as a few coolers too keep cold dishes cold.
Electricity is also available for crock pots. The afternoon will be
full of various geocaching games and activities. Several new caches
will also be placed for the day in the surrounding countryside. The
event goes rain or shine, but let's cross our fingers for
shine...I'd rather spend the day outside than inside school on a
summer day! Please let your friends near and far know about this
event, the more the merrier! Games info will be added here as I
come up with the games for the day. Prepare yourself for
"Chartmaker Challenge - Write Your Best Log in Chartmaker Style!" A
local legend in log writing, this is your chance to be creative and
write a log the way Chartmaker does. Check out his profile to get a
feel for how he does it. If the stars properly align on the day
we'll even get Chartmaker himself to judge the entries! Learn how
to use the Tracks feature on your GPSr if it has one, there will be
a game making use of it.
