CAUX - Eglise St GERVAIS St PROTAIS
Eglise à nef unique et abside polygonale à l'extérier, voûtée en cul-de-four (demi-coupole). Construite dans la seconde moitié du XIIe siècle, l'église a été rallongée de deux travées à la fin du même siècle. Les chapelles latérales ont été rajoutées postérieurement. La tour du clocher faisant porche a été construite au XIVe siècle.
The church has a single nave and an apse which is polygonal outside, and half-dome vaulted within. Built in the second half of the XIIth cent, the church was extended by two bays toward the end of the same century. The side chapels were added later. The porticoed bell tower was built in the XIVth century.
Notez l'insolite fenêtre renaissance (motifs cordés et personnages grotesques) qui devait appartenir à l'ancien château détruit en 1677.
This unusual window with its rope motifs and grotesque figures must have belonged to the old chateau which was destroyed in 1677.
