Great North Walk No.3 Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

s_mon: After nearly three and a half years, it's time to call this one quits. I don't have the time anymore to maintain my caches (and after the recent run of DNFs, this cache may have been muggled - although I'm not sure if it has). For those who searched for this one, what you were looking for was a small log (less than a foot long) on the ground, with a drilled out hole containing a test-tube.

Geocache Description:

A very well camouflaged micro just off the beaten track...

This is the third of a number of caches that I will be hiding along the Great North Walk. The Great North Walk is a walking track which runs from Sydney to Newcastle in New South Wales. The main track, which is 250 kilometres in length, runs between the Obelisk in Macquarie Place in Sydney to Queens Wharf Tower in Bicentennial Park in Newcastle. The southern end of the Great North Walk runs through the Sydney CBD, Woolwich, Hunters Hill, East Ryde and Chatswood West.

This cache, the third in this series of hides, is hidden within 3 metres of the Great North Walk track between Baronia Avenue and Princes Street. We parked at Baronia Avenue and it was only a few minutes walk to GZ, although another option is to park on Park Road near Princes Street and walk down Princes Street.

Of all of the caches in this series, this one will probably be the most challenging due to the camouflage and the bush setting. You are looking for an unusual cache container with the capacity similar to that of a magnetic key hider (but entirely different in shape).

Google maps suggests that GZ is to the south of the walking track but this is not correct. GZ is up hill from the walking track. I can't be sure of the coords given the large amount of tree cover at GZ, so rely on the hint to make sure you are in the right place.

Bring your own pen or pencil. Good luck!
