La grotte et le canal
Le parc de la Tête d’Or est dès l’origine pensé et conçu autour d’un lac. Le lac est d'abord alimenté par les eaux du Rhône arrivant par un canal qui se sépare en deux bras après le pont de la Cascade pour enserrer la grande île, avant de former le lac.
Une grotte en rocaille, dans la tradition de l'époque, fut construite en 1861 à l'arrivée de l'eau. La baisse régulière du niveau du Rhône a empêché l'alimentation du canal et le lac s'assèche. Un puits et une station de pompage sont construits en 1957, suivis d'une deuxième pour assurer un débit suffisant.

Soyez très discrets car l’endroit est très fréquenté.

The cave and the channel
The Parc de la Tete d'Or was originally thought and designed around a lake. The lake was primarily fed by the waters of the Rhone arriving via a channel that splits into two arms at the Cascade Bridge to enclose the largest island, before forming the lake. A cave, in the tradition of the time, was built in 1861 at the arrival of the water. The steady decline in the level of the Rhone has lowered the supply channel and the lake were drying. A well and a pumping station were built in 1957, followed by a second to ensure adequate flow.
Park access schedule :
from October 16to April 15 6h30 AM-8h30 PM
from April 16 to October : 6h30 AM -10h30 PM
Be very discrete, the place can be very busy.
