Geocache Description:

#4
The Watauga Presbyterian Church building was erected in December, 1893, and is one of the oldest buildings in the area.

Origanally established in 1867 by 13 settlers, the Watauga Presbyterian Church, (origainally the Willow Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church) has been continuously serving the Watauga community for over 145 years.

In front of the building stands a historical marker where there used to be a bell. The password to complete this cache is the year the church was renamed. Once you find the password, email me your geocaching name and the year to verify completion of the cache.

NOTE added 12-14-2017: Apparently, the historical marker is now gone as well. Hopefully, this is temporary. If the marker is NOT there, there is a wooden utility pole just north of the posted coordinates, next to the road at 32° 51.615'N 97° 16.037'W. Email me the two yellow serial numbers on the pole.

Alternate logging method added 11/9/08:
If you prefer, you can verify your find by posting a photo of yourself in front of the church. Be sure the date is NOT visible in the photo. No email necessary if the photo is posted.

If no photo of yourself is posted, and I do not receive an email, I reserve the right to delete your log! As with most virtual caches, you are expected to PHYSICALLY visit the site to log a find. Internet searches and other 'remote' methods of locating the information do not qualify. Also, no "retroactive" finds based on visits before the cache was created.

*** I have no connection to this church - I just think it's a cool location!
