Geocache Description:

Geocaching NSW welcomes all to our next geocaching session held at the Carlingford Bowling Club, Pennant Hills Road, Carlingford.

Geocaching 101 is a chance for new and experienced geocachers to get together to ask advice, guidance and gather lots of great tips.

If you're brand new to geocaching, it's an excellent opportunity to meet other geocachers who may have a bit more experience under their belt.

The venue is close to the Carlingford railway station and the 548 bus route. Drinks and snacks are available in the club.

As it is a club, please wear appropriate clothing (e.g. no flip-flops).

The purpose of this get together is to share tips and tricks on geocaching and to update you on developments with the association.

Presentations

EcoDave from EcoTeam will take us back to the early days of geocaching - a time when 'Mega' caches were the rage. These caches were months in the planing, full of hype, mystery and suspense. You'll hear about the famous Get Smart interactive cache story, Achilles and one or two of the major caches that were firsts in their genre.

Following Dave's presentation, Paul Bakker, distributor of RAM Mounts in Australia, will discuss how to safely mount your GPSr safely in your car. He will also bring along the newly released Lowrance Endura range of GPS receivers.

Schedule

The meeting will begin at 10.30 am sharp and conclude at 12.30 pm. The first hour is reserved for the presentations, while the second is set aside for social time.

Free tea and coffee is available and the bistro is open, so you can purchase a meal after the meeting and continue chatting.

This is a perfect opportunity for new geocachers to pick up some tips on finding and hiding geocaches. Don't forget you can also swap geocoins and travel bugs at the event. A special area will be set aside for trackable swaps and discoveries.

Please register your intention to attend by leaving a 'will attend' entry on this page.

Please note, this event is free to Geocaching NSW members. A gold coin donation applies to non-members, to cover the cost of the venue. Any questions? Please email the association.

Geocaching NSW is a registered not-for-profit incorporated association.
