Rocher du Courbas, borne géodésique IGN 0901201 (Appy 1), au sommet du Petit Quié.

Accès facile en toute condition à partir du village d'Appy. Au centre du village prendre une petite rue à gauche (si l'on vient de l'Est) qui se tranfrome en un sentier boueux, traverser les près, suivre le panneau "Rocher du Courbas" et commencer l'ascension dans une buxeraie (végétation principalement composée de buis, Buxus Sempervirens) très odorante. Le chemin est bien tracé. On accède en 30 minutes à la crête du Petit Quié, vue magnifique et vertigineuse vers le sud sur la vallée de l'Ariège,la chaîne des Pyrénées. Suivre la crête où le chemin se perd un peu parfois, vers l'ouest. Aucune difficulté pour arriver au sommet (1233 m), un lieu rocailleux dégagé comportant quelques buissons de buis, la borne IGN 0901201 et un petit trièdre de cailloux. Formes d'érosion typiques des roches calcaires, lapiez en formation. La cache se trouve à 8 m de la borne géodésique vers le Nord-Ouest, sous un petit tas de pierres, dans l'alignement des villages de Caychax et Senconac, que l'on voit en contrebas. Elle contient de petits jouets (sifflet, flute, scoubidou, ballons), le logbook et un mini-dossier cartographique illustrant les progrès des sciences cartographiques (extraits de la carte de Ptolémée - vers 150 après JC, de la carte de Cassini - vers 1796, de la carte IGN au 1/25.000, de la base de données géodésiques IGN).

The access is very easy in all weather conditions from the village of Appy. In the center of the village go on the left (if you come from the East) on a small street leading to a muddy path. Cross over the meadows, follow the panel "Rocher du Courbas" and begin the climb under a very odorous buxery (vegetation of Buxus Sempervirens). The path is well traced. In 30 minutes you will arrive to the Petit Quié mountain top line. Very nice and vertiginous sight southward, on the Ariege valley and the Pyrenees mounts. Follow the top line westward and up, sometime the path is not very visible. No problem to reach the top (1233 m), a cleared rocky place with some bushes (Buxus), the IGN geodetic mark 0901201 and a small stone trihedron. Typical erosion of the rocky limestones (lapiez ongoing). The cache is located at 8 m from the geodetic mark, north-westward, under a small stones heap, in the axis made by the villages of Caychax and Senconac, that are just under. In the cache there are a wistle, a flute, baloons, a scoubidou and a mini-folder showing the evolution of the cartographic sciences (extracts of the Ptolemy map -about 150 after JC, the Cassini map - about 1786, the 1/25.000 IGN map, the IGN geodetic database).
