The cache is a regular 4 clip click lock box in a camo bag. This cache is one of a series of caches around the village of Norbury.
Each cache can be discovered as a drive by as they are all near to roads, or they can be done as part of the Millennium Boulder Trail walk which is about 7 miles. None of the caches is very far from each boulder. The Boulder Trail is a pleasant walk over fields, tracks, some lanes and a canal towpath.
The Millennium Boulder Trail was started by the Norbury Local History Group to celebrate the year AD 2000.
In Norbury and the surrounding areas, glacial boulders can be found. Some of these boulders have been rescued, and been re-sited.
Five of these have been erected, one in each of the five settlements that make up the Parish of Norbury. Each boulder is inscribed with its number and the letters MM, and carries a bronze plaque.
If you decide on the walk, parking is available at the Norbury Village Hall.

Boulder III is at Norbury Junction, which was created by the construction of the Birmingham and Liverpool Junction canal at the point where it joined the Newport section of the Shrewsbury canal. Canal boat workshops now occupy the beginning of this Shrewsbury arm. This branch of the canal passed through Newport and Wappenshall junction, Longden on Tern {where Telford’s iron aqueduct can still be seen) and then on to Shrewsbury. Wappenshall Junction is now being developed as a visitor centre. It is planned to restore the canal for leisure purposes.
Norbury Junction is a delightful place to visit, with lots of things to see and do. There is also a visitor information shop.
The boulder here is by far the largest to be incorporated into the trail, and probably weighs 3 – 4 tonnes. Until about 18 years ago it was lying in a grass field on Gorse Farm, Knightley. For the trail it was hauled on a low loader and brought to Norbury Junction. Cachers will need to apply a little stealth as this boulder is located in a busy canal basin.
